FAMILY UPDATE
Our family is doing well. We are all in different stages of the grieving process, but life goes on. Jeremy is coaching football as a head coach this year, and Ken and I try to travel to all the home games to support him. Daniel is in college, and is working with his dad as an unofficial assistant coach. Carissa and Eric are working tirelessly for their church, and raising five beautiful children. Sarah and Teaven continue to teach and share our Lord as often as they can. Kayla is beginning her last few semesters in college and will graduate in December, 2018. Naomi continues her college days in San Antonio where she also works for a local theatre. Ken and I are growing old together. We find ourselves with less energy some days, but we still love to meet the military and their families. Our home is never empty, and we would have it no other way. Please be in prayer for Judi’s dad and step-mom as they too are getting older. We are glad Ft. Hood/Killeen is just a couple of hours from Joshua, Texas (near Fort Worth) so we can be a part of their lives. Pray for us as we attend Ken’s family reunion in October ( 3-17) in North Carolina. We will speaking at several of our Partnership Churches while in the Rocky Mount area.
MINISTRY UPDATE
“Men of Honor” Ministry
God is answering your prayers regarding RESTORING “Protestant Men of the Chapel” on Fort Hood. The Garrison Chaplain has given permission to use our local Cadence Ministry, “Men of Honor” (started in 1996) to combine with the “Protestant Men of the Chapel”. The overall purpose is “Men Seeking a Vital Relationship with God and Other Men” with the goal to love God and others as ourselves. We are developing a Leadership Team to further explore ways to reach active duty men (around 32,000 at Fort Hood) and retirees regardless of their marital status. Also, the long range goal is to see these men disciple/mentor other men. When we disciple/mentor men whether single or married, we and you, the support Team Member, are used by God to STRENGTHEN and SAVE MARRIAGES and reach the NEXT GENERATION for Christ. We are trusting God to have monthly fellowships starting in February, 2018, and quarterly conferences to further EQUIP, MATURE, MULTIPLY these men as they MOBILIZE. Also, pray as the Chief of Chaplains of the Sierra Leone Armed Forces, Moses Kargbo, (Ken has a discipleship relationship with him) seeks God’s guidance how to implement the “Men of Honor” Ministry in their military.
Prayer Ministries
God continues to bless the quarterly Prayer Summits on Fort Hood. We are having one this Saturday, September 16. We are trusting the Lord that Chaplains, Pastors and other Intercessory Leaders will participate. The World-Wide 24/7 Prayer Ministry is still growing in Sierra Leone, West Africa led by Pastor Francis M. (Ken has a discipleship relationship with him). We are trusting the Lord to connect us with others internationally in an INTENTIONAL way to seek Him to grow this ministry so that many will come to know Christ and share Him.
Chad, Mozambique and Sierra Leone Armed Forces
Please keep Walter H., (in a discipleship relationship) from Chad, in prayer as he has two months to go in his Captain Career Course and then he returns to Chad. We are working through the Book of Acts together through the internet. His church back in Chad has requested that I come to do a “Wounded Warrior” Conference in 2018 to their Armed Forces.
Please pray for Acacio C. (in a discipleship relationship), a Lieutenant in the Mozambique Armed Forces. His wife is very ill. They have four children. They are really struggling with health and financial issues while trying to help their congregation build a new building for their church.
Please pray for all those affected by the recent Hurricanes in Florida and Texas. Also, pray for Sierra Leone, as their rainy season brought floods, mudslides, destruction and death. Over 600 died according to Chaplain Moses EA Kargbo. He lost a close Chaplain friend, Chaplain Major S., who help plan our “Wounded Warrior Conference” back in May of this year.
Air Force Ministry Outreach
Judi continues to prepare great Airmen Dorm Suppers for these wonderful Airmen. God is allowing us to build relationships. Thank you for praying for Bradford J. (last newsletter). He is really growing in Christ and is taking on a leadership role to Team with us. He is very engaged in the lives of other Airmen and his church. Pray for Michael C., who recently made some new commitments to Christ. He is presently TDY (Temporary Duty to another Air Force Base). Pray as we work through the Book of John through the Internet.
We cannot praise God enough for each of you. Your sacrificial and generous financial support and prayers are not only IMPACTING Fort Hood but the Armed Forces of other Nations. You may give online at www.cadence.org/donate or send a check using our account # 10409, to Cadence International, PO Box 1268, Englewood, CO 80150. Please do not put our name on check for IRS purposes.
